The claim that slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ were raised during the show of Gadar 2 movie at a cinema hall in Bareilly is fake.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). After the release of Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, several posts related to the movie are going viral on social media. One of these posts claims that some people of a particular religion raised slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ during the screening of Gadar 2 at a cinema hall in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. After this, the people present there beat them with belts.

Vishvas News fact-checked the claim and found that the allegation of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans being raised in the cinema hall is a hoax. According to the police, there was a dispute between two people while taking photos from mobile in the cinema hall. After this, they had a fight.

Investigation

To verify the viral claim, we first searched Google about ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans raised in a cinema hall in Bareilly, using the keywords. A news report about this was published on the website of Dainik Jagran from Bareilly on August 12. It read, “On August 11, Sunny Deol’s film Gadar 2 was released. There was no space in any cinema hall in the city on the first day. The youth who went to watch Gadar 2 had the Tricolour in their hands, when they came out after watching the film. The audience came out shouting slogans of Hindustan Zindabad. At the same time, during the show of Gadar 2 at Prasad Cinema Hall in the district, there was a fight between two parties. Both sides used belts to hit each other and then the accused fled the scene. According to the Kotwali police, Gadar 2 film was released on Friday. During the night show in Prasad Talkies, around 11 pm, two people had a dispute, after which a fight broke out. Nowhere in the news has there been a mention of raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.”

The news of the brawl during Gadar 2 show in Bareilly was also published on Dainik Bhaskar’s website three days ago. The report reads, “There was a fight in the middle of the show of Gadar 2 in Bareilly. A drunken youth attacked people with a belt, which sparked chaos. This case pertains to Prasad Cinemahall of Kotwali police station area. There was a show going on from 9 to 12 on Friday night. During the show, there was an argument between two people. Then a young man who was drunk took out his belt and attacked. The show of the film had to be stopped as the matter escalated. The accused fled before the police arrived.” However, we could not find any information corroborating the viral claim at any cinema hall in Bareilly during the show.

The video news has also been uploaded on the YouTube channel of IANS on 12th August. The video news reports, “Two people started fighting during the Gadar 2 show at Prasad Talkies in Bareilly. Both were intoxicated. By the time the police arrived, the accused had fled. The incident happened during the last show. The movie was restarted after a while.”

For more information about this, we spoke to Inspector Dhirendra Bahadur Singh, Executive Station Officer-in-Charge of Bareilly Kotwali. He said, “It is a rumour that slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ were raised in cinema halls during Gadar 2. Nothing of the sort has happened. During the show, when a person started taking photos from a mobile phone, there was a dispute over the flashing of the flash. There has been no talk of raising anti-national slogans. No complaint has been made in this matter from anyone’s side.”

Ashok Kumar, Bureau Chief of Dainik Jagran in Bareilly, also called this claim wrong. He said, “Nothing like this has happened. There was a fight after a dispute between two people. The claim about people raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in the cinema hall of the district is just a rumour.”
