Fact Check: CM Adityanath’s Old Video Goes Viral Linking It To UP Police Recruitment Exam

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has formed a committee to look into the allegations surrounding the constable recruitment examination. The video featuring CM Yogi, wherein he mentions the possibility of conducting the exam again, dates back to November 2021. During that period, he made this statement about the UPTET exam and it is not related to the UP Police Recruitment Exam.

New Delhi Vishvas News – Allegations of a paper leak have surfaced in the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Examination. A video featuring the state Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, discussing the issue is circulating widely on social media. In the video, the Chief Minister addresses the matter of the paper leak and mentions the possibility of a re-examination. Some users are sharing this video, asserting that CM Yogi Adityanath has proposed a re-examination of the UP Police exam.

Upon investigation, Vishvas News has determined that the viral video of CM Yogi Adityanath is two years old and is unrelated to the UP Police exam. The Chief Minister made these remarks during a meeting concerning the UPTET paper leak incident.

What’s Going Viral?

Instagram user romii_yadav posted the video on February 20 and wrote, “up police paper will happen again.” It is written along with the video, “Yogi Adityanath took a big decision, UPP exam will be held again.” However, it is also written with a question mark below, “Will UP Police Paper be repeated again?”.

Insta user something_is_there_02 has also shared another alleged video news related to the same recruitment exam. It has been claimed that Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered the cancellation of the constable recruitment examination to be held on February 18.

Investigation

– First video

To investigate the viral claim, we first investigated the video of CM Yogi. On keyword search, we found the viral statement on ABP Live’s YouTube channel. In this video news uploaded on 28 November 2021, it has been told that due to a paper leak, the UPTET exam had to be cancelled. Police have arrested some people in this case. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has said that the property of the culprits will be confiscated. The exam will be held again within a month.

This video can also be seen on Aaj Tak’s YouTube channel on 28 November 2021.

In the news published on the website of ABP Live on 28 November 2021, it is written that in the public meeting held in Deoria, CM Yogi Adityanath talked about re-conducting the UPTET exam.

Regarding this, UP BJP spokesperson Avnish Tyagi said that the video going viral is old. It has no connection with the UP Police Recruitment Exam.

To verify the viral claim, we initially examined the video featuring CM Yogi. Through keyword searches, we found the viral statement on ABP Live’s YouTube channel. Uploaded on November 28, 2021, the video report discusses the cancellation of the UPTET exam due to a paper leak, with arrests made by the police in connection to the incident. In this report, UP CM Yogi Adityanath is quoted as stating that the assets of the perpetrators will be seized, and a re-examination will be held within a month. This same video can also be found on Aaj Tak’s YouTube channel, also dated November 28, 2021.

Moreover, a news article published on ABP Live’s website on November 28, 2021, reports on a public meeting held in Deoria, where CM Yogi Adityanath discussed the possibility of re-conducting the UPTET exam. Responding to these developments, UP BJP spokesperson Avnish Tyagi clarified that the circulating video is old and unrelated to the UP Police Recruitment Exam.

– Second Video

Further investigation into other viral videos using relevant keywords led us to a YouTube channel named India News 13, where the aforementioned viral video was found. These claims were subsequently debunked as false. It appears that confusion is being propagated by the dissemination of incomplete videos on social media platforms.

Subsequently, we conducted a Google search using keywords related to the UP Police Recruitment Exam. According to a news report published on the Dainik Jagran website on February 19, there have been allegations of a paper leak in the examination conducted for constable recruitment in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has initiated an investigation into these allegations, forming an inquiry committee led by the ADG to probe claims of paper leaks and errors in paper printing. This committee has already commenced its investigation. It’s worth noting that this examination was conducted for 60,244 posts within the UP Police Force.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Police and Promotion Board issued a statement on their X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating, “Preliminary investigation has revealed that miscreants are utilizing Telegram’s edit feature to facilitate cheating and spread misinformation regarding paper leaks on social media platforms. The Board, along with @Uppolice, is actively monitoring these incidents and thoroughly investigating their origins. The examination is proceeding securely and without disruption.”

Moreover, we scrutinised the profile of the Instagram user who shared CM Yogi’s old video, linking it to the UP Police recruitment exam. According to our findings, this user has over 1.46 lakh followers.

Conclusion: The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has formed a committee to look into the allegations surrounding the constable recruitment examination. The video featuring CM Yogi, wherein he mentions the possibility of conducting the exam again, dates back to November 2021. During that period, he made this statement about the UPTET exam and it is not related to the UP Police Recruitment Exam.
