Fact Check: Rahul Gandhi’s AI-Generated Picture Shared With Misleading Claim

The picture of Rahul Gandhi, which looks like a work of art amidst the trees on the sea shore, is actually a picture created with the help of AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence tool. The AI-generated image is being shared with a fake claim.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). A picture of Rahul Gandhi, which looks like an artwork, is going viral on social media. In the picture, an emerging image of Rahul Gandhi is visible among the trees on the sea shore. It is being claimed that this photo was taken by an Australian tourist at Colva Beach in South Goa.

Vishvas News found in its investigation that the picture going viral is not real, but has been created with the help of AI tool.

What is going viral?


While sharing the viral picture (archive link), social media user ‘Aman Khan’ wrote, “This photograph was clicked by a Australian Tourist in Colva beach, South Goa & it’s a ‘message to the entire Planet Earth by mother Nature’. RT and share it maximum !!”

Investigation



To find the original source of the viral picture, we took the help of reverse image search. During search, this picture was found on the profile of a verified X user named ‘Ductar Fakir 2.0’.

While sharing this picture, he has called it a satire. He wrote, “This pic is satirically posted with the purpose to tackle Modi’s fake AI generated post which was spread on WhatsApp thinking it was real !! Ankhe kholo WhatsApp ke uncle log !!”

In social media search, we also found the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in response to which this picture has been shared. Madhav Kohli had shared the picture of PM Modi from his verified X profile, which he had created with the help of an app called Stable Diffusion.

Many other social media users started sharing this photo with the fake claim of it being taken by a tourist. stablediffusionweb.com is a text to image diffusion model, which generates AI images based on text input.

Vishvas News contacted AI expert Abhijeet Parashar regarding the viral picture. He said, “This is an AI created picture.” He said that there are many such tools available where such pictures can be created with the help of prompts.

The user who shared the viral picture is followed by about 3,000 people on X. Fact check reports of AI created pictures going viral on social media can be read in the AI Check section of Vishvas News.
