New Delhi ( Vishvas News). A picture of former DMK MLA M Appavu with former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan is viral on social media with a claim that he joined the BJP.
Vishvas News investigation revealed the claim is fake. MLA refuted the claims saying the picture was captured in a wedding ceremony.
Claim
A picture of former DMK MLA M Appavu is viral with a claim that he joined the BJP party in the presence of former Union Minister and Senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan. The archived version of the post can be seen here.
Investigation
We searched on the Internet for news about the information. While we found recent news articles on veteran actor and DMK sympathiser Sivaji Ganesan’s son Ramkumar announcing his plans to join the BJP ahead of Tamil Nadu polls, we did not find any authentic reports confirming the viral claim about M Appavu.
Vishvas News contacted M Appavu for clarification. “The viral claim is fake. The picture was captured in a wedding ceremony,” he said. He also shared a Facebook post where the wedding couple’s family has requested not to spread rumours with the picture.
Social scanning of the user who shared the viral post revealed that he lives in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and has 605 followers on Facebook.
