Fact Check: Old video of BJP workers clash in Rajasthan viral with fake claim

The viral claim is fake. An old video of a clash between two groups of BJP workers in Masuda, Rajasthan is viral as in Bihar.

New Delhi (Vishvas News). Ahead of Bihar assembly elections, a video showing the fight between BJP party members is viral on social media with a claim that BJP leaders were beaten up in Bihar.

Vishvas News investigation revealed the claim is fake. An old video of a clash between two groups of BJP workers in Masuda, Rajasthan is viral as in Bihar.

Claim

Facebook user Absar Hussain posted a viral video with a claim that BJP leaders in Bihar were crushed. BJP workers can be seen clashing with each other in the video. The archived version of the post can be seen here.

Investigation

We observed the viral video carefully. We spotted BJP flag in the crowd. We uploaded this video to the InVID tool and extracted keyframes and used them to search on the Internet through Google reverse image search tool. We found this video in many places. It was described as an incident in Rajasthan. We found this video on ANI’s Tweet posted on 12 April 2019. The tweet reads, “Rajasthan: Two groups of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers clash during a rally in Masuda, Ajmer. (11/4/19).” The video can be seen below.

We searched on the Internet for news using keywords. We found a news article on Sakshi.com website published on 12 April 2019 that clarified that  the incident happened in Masuda.

According to a news article by the Zee News published over the same time in 2019, “During the election campaign of BJP candidate Bhagirath Chaudhary in Masuda, Bhanwar Singh Palada, husband of former Masooda MLA Sushil Kanwar Palada, and Naveen Sharma, currently in BJP, and their supporters clashed.”

Vishvas News contacted Dr. Nikhil Anand, BJP State Spokesperson, Bihar. He said that by running this propaganda against BJP on social media, some political parties are trying to express their frustration. “This kind of propaganda is grossly objectionable and highly reprehensible. The reality is that this video does not have anything to do with Bihar and this video is old, which was tried unceremoniously to link it with Bihar assembly election. This is a cheap politics of opposition parties to create an anti-public image against BJP leaders,” said Anand.

Social scanning of the FB user Absar Hussain who shared the claim revealed that he is from Bettiah, Bihar and currently resides in Mumbai. He has over 1,000 followers and is active since June 2017.

Conclusion: The viral claim is fake. An old video of a clash between two groups of BJP workers in Masuda, Rajasthan is viral as in Bihar.
