New Delhi (Vishvas News) – During the Israel-Hamas conflict, numerous posts filled with human sympathies are circulating on social media. In one of these posts, a viral picture is being shared, and users are claiming that it was taken by the couple Amit and Neer, who participated in a music festival. According to the claims, they took this picture while hiding in the bushes when Israel was attacked, moments before they were killed.
However, Vishvas News, in its investigation, has found that the viral claim is misleading. In reality, after the attack on Israel, Amit and Neer did indeed hide in the bushes. During this time, the young man took a selfie, but both of them managed to escape safely from the situation.
What’s going viral?
Facebook user ‘Sanatani Hindu‘ posted the photo on October 10 and wrote, “This photo was taken by Amit and Nir, a couple in love attending a concert in Israel the night they were attacked by Hamas. Were hiding in the bushes to escape from the terrorists. Hundreds of young Israelis were murdered at that party… When Amit and Nir realized that it was impossible to survive, they captured the memory of their love on their mobile before they died and told the world about the cruelty of Hamas and about their love. Had taken the last image to show… May God grant salvation to both of them…”
X user ‘Sanatani Hindu Rakesh Jai Shri Ram’ has also posted a viral picture with the same claim.
Investigation:
To verify the viral claim, we conducted a reverse image search using Google. A link to a news article featuring this picture was posted on Reddit’s website two days ago. The article stated that a couple, who had escaped the massacre in Samorah, Israel, shared their harrowing experience while searching for their missing friend.
Furthermore, the Daily Mail US’s X handle, also posted the same photo on October 10, explaining that the couple had faced extreme danger while trying to save themselves from the Hamas attack.
Additionally, Israel’s ambassador to Romania, David Saranga shared this photo along with the statement that the couple was hiding in the bushes to evade the terrorists who had massacred hundreds of young Israelis at a party. He mentioned that Amit took the photo as a keepsake in case he did not survive.
A related news article on Mirror’s website detailed the experience of Amit and his partner Neer, who were among the party-goers. It explained how they got separated from their friend Jiv and ran to save their lives, eventually hiding in the bushes. The event called the Tribe of Nova, took place in a rural area near the Gaza-Israel border and was attacked by Hamas terrorists, resulting in an estimated 260 casualties.
This picture can also be found on Amit Bar’s Instagram account, where he uploaded it on October 9, remarking that their survival was nothing short of a miracle. In this post, he shared his experience during the attack. We reached out to Amit Bar through Instagram, and he confirmed, “Neer and I escaped from there. The viral claim is false.”
Finally, we examined the profile of the Facebook user who shared the photo with the misleading claim. According to the information available, the user resides in Agra and has around 6,500 followers.
Conclusion: The couple present at the concert escaped safely after the Hamas attack on Israel, and nothing untoward happened to them. The viral claim circulating on social media is indeed misleading.
