Fact Check: Video From 2018 Bengali Film Going Viral as glimpse of Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Jawaan’

New Delhi Vishvas News – A clip of an action scene starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is going viral on social media platforms, featuring a young man descending from a tall building. Users who shared the video claim it to be from an action scene from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Jawaan, which is scheduled to be released in theatres on September 7. Vishvas News conducted an investigation and discovered that the viral video was actually a scene from a 2018 Bengali film. It is unrelated to Shah Rukh Khan’s movie ‘Jawaan’.
What’s going viral?
The Facebook user R Ahmad (Archive) shared the viral post and wrote, “#Jawan Leaked Action Scene – We are not prepared for the Mass + Class Action sequences of #Jawan. ANGAAR HAI BOSS.”
Investigation:
Initiating our investigation, we extracted keyframes from the video and used Google Lens to search for them. This video was found shared on various social media platforms with the same viral claim. A verified Twitter user named Sahir also made similar false claims while sharing the video. The video has amassed 73,000 views and over 1,000 likes.
However, in the comments section, a user named ‘Rahul Paul’ clarified that the individual in the video is Mansoor Khan, a body double, and the scene is from a Bengali film. The user included a screenshot of Mansoor A Khan’s verified Instagram handle, displaying the identical scene from the viral video.
Building on this foundation, we proceeded with our investigation, searching on Google using the keywords “Mansoor Khan + Body Double”. In the search results, we found Mansoor Khan’s Instagram handle and several media reports related to him.
Mansoor_a_khan13, on his verified Instagram handle, shared the video on August 18, 2023, stating, “I performed this stunt for Bagh Bandhi Khela at the Cat Tower in Bangkok in 2018.”
Reports also indicate that an FIR has been filed over the alleged theft and online leaks of certain clips from the film ‘Jawaan’. To verify the authenticity of the viral post, we reached out to our colleague Smita Srivastava, an entertainment reporter at Dainik Jagran. She confirmed that the viral video is not from the film ‘Jawaan’.
During a social scan of the Facebook page that shared the misleading post, we observed that most of the entertainment-related content originates from this page.
Conclusion: After its investigation, Vishvas News has determined that the viral video is a scene from a 2018 Bengali film. It has no connection to Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Jawaan’.
