Fact Check: PM Modi did not wear Muslim skull cap during meet with Dawoodi Bohra community

During his visit to Mumbai, PM Modi inaugurated the new campus of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy and during this, he did not wear an Islamic cap. The picture of Prime Minister Modi wearing an Islamic skull cap is fake, which has been edited with the intention of spreading propaganda.

New Delhi (Vishvas News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who went to Mumbai for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s event and the inauguration of the new metro line on January 19, also participated in a programme of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community. A picture of PM Modi from this event is going viral, in which he can be seen wearing an Islamic skull cap. It is being claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the event wearing the cap.

Vishvas News investigation found this claim to be a propaganda and the picture going viral has been edited. During his visit to Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the new campus of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy and was also seen in his attire. He did not wear the Islamic headgear during the event. The viral picture is fake, which has been edited and prepared with the intention of propaganda.

Claim:

Sharing the viral picture (archive link), social media user ‘Jay Chand’ wrote, “Friends today the lotus flower of blind devotees is blossoming in the mosque.
Should I say thank you Modi ji for the fact that you go to the Masjid-Masjid secretly…”

Several other users on social media have shared the image with the same claim.

Investigation:

Dainik Jagran reported on February 10, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy in Mumbai. The new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah or Saifee Academy, a primary educational institution of the Dawoodi Bohra community, is in Marol, a suburb of Mumbai.

News agency ANI also tweeted pictures of the event from its official Twitter handle where Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is also seen along with the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi is not seen wearing an Islamic cap in any of the reports. Two pictures are visible in the viral collage. In the first picture, the Prime Minister is seen with the religious leader. In the search, the picture of this meeting was found on the official Twitter profile of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Our investigation has revealed that the viral image with the claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore an Islamic cap during the inauguration of the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiya Academy is fake and has been edited.

We contacted Omprakash Tiwari, Mumbai bureau chief of Dainik Jagran, for additional confirmation. He confirmed that Prime Minister Modi did not wear an Islamic cap during the event.

The user who shared the viral and fake picture has described himself as a resident of Lucknow in his profile. This profile is inspired by a particular ideology.

Conclusion: During his visit to Mumbai, PM Modi inaugurated the new campus of the Dawoodi Bohra community’s Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy and during this, he did not wear an Islamic cap. The picture of Prime Minister Modi wearing an Islamic skull cap is fake, which has been edited with the intention of spreading propaganda.
