New Delhi (Vishvas News): A dance video of TMC MP Saugata Roy is being shared on social media with the claim that he is seen dancing with Arpita Mukherjee. The viral claim turned out to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. In the viral video, Saugata Roy and actress Raveena Tandon are dancing. The viral video is around 3 years old and is from a food festival. Which people are now sharing on social media with the wrong claim.
Claim :
Sharing the viral video, Facebook user Mohit Kumar wrote, “Arpita Mukherjee is dancing with MP Saugata Roy.”
Investigation :
To know the truth of the viral video, we extracted several grabs of the video and searched them through Google reverse image. We found a news report related to the viral video on a Bengali website named One India. It was published on 18 January 2019. According to the report, not Arpita Mukherjee, but actress Raveena Tandon was dancing with Saugata Roy. Many other websites also published this news.
Taking the investigation further, we started searching on Google through related keywords. We found the clear video on a Bengali YouTube channel named Sangbad Pratidin. The video was uploaded on 18 January 2019. According to the caption, the video is from an event of a food festival. It can be clearly seen in the video that not Arpita Mukherjee with Saugata Roy, but actress Raveena Tandon is dancing. India Today also shared this video on its Facebook page.
We reached out to Saugata Roy for confirmation. He told us that the viral claim is false. This video is from a food festival held in January 2019. Raveena Tandon is dancing in the video, not Arpita Mukherjee.
We started scanning the profile of the user Mohit Kumar who shared the post. We found out that the user has 245 followers. According to the information given on the profile, the user is a resident of Uttarakhand.
