Fact Check: This temple decorated with currency notes is not Tirupati Balaji temple
This claim proved to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. The temple seen in the picture is not the Balaji temple of Tirupati but Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari temple located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.

New Delhi (Vishvas Team). In a post going viral on social media, a temple decorated with Indian currency notes can be seen. It is being claimed with the post that it is the Balaji temple of Tirupati which has been decorated with notes instead of flowers. This claim proved to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. The temple seen in the picture is not the Balaji temple of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, but Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari temple located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
What’s in the viral post?
The post shared on Facebook claimed, ‘#Tirupati_Balaji Temple, a glimpse of the unique workmanship of decoration with Indian notes instead of flowers in Andhra Pradesh. Jai Tirupati Balaji.
Investigation
In reverse image search, we found a video similar to this uploaded on YouTube channel SV TELUGU TV on 12 October 2021. The description with the video read “Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple decorated with currency notes, Nellore, AP”
Taking a hint from here, we did a keyword search. We found many news and videos on this topic. According to a report published in Jagran.com on 13 October 2021, translated “Decoration of a temple in Andhra Pradesh remains the center of attraction. The temple has been decorated with notes of more than five crore rupees in the Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwara temple in Nellore district. The deity is decorated with currency notes worth Rs 5.16 crore. This decoration was done by more than 100 volunteers, which took several hours. Rs 2,000, Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100, Rs 50, and Rs 10 notes were used to decorate the temple.” A picture of the temple can also be seen in the news which matches the viral video.

We did not find any news of the Tirupati temple being decorated with notes anywhere in the recent past.
When asked about this, ST Krishnan, public relations officer of Tirupati Balaji temple, told us, ‘This video is not from Tirupati Balaji temple.’
The viral video was shared on Twitter by a handle named Rakesh (BJP) – (Shri Parashuram Descendants). The user has 5,616 followers.
Conclusion: This claim proved to be misleading in the investigation of Vishvas News. The temple seen in the picture is not the Balaji temple of Tirupati but Sri Kanyaka Parameshwari temple located in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
