Investigation
As Vishvas News started searching with relevant keywords. First, we checked the press conference addressed by State Health Minister Mr. Keshab Mahanta right after the Cabinet meeting in Assam held on November 04. In the press conference, the Health Minister clearly mentioned that the Assam Government will provide one-time assistance of Rs 15,000 to ‘Namgharias’ and temple Preists, as they are in great financial crisis due to the Covid19 pandemic. The Minister never mentioned in the press conference that State Govt will give this amount of money every month. What the minister said can be clearly seen at in the below video link from 0.41 seconds to 0.59 seconds.
We saw a post on Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma’s Verified Facebook page. The post mentions that the state government has decided to provide one time assistance of Rs 15000 to ‘Namgharia’s and Temple Preists. Link below.

Vishvas News contacted Journalist Jayanta Kalita from Amar Asom, a leading daily, in this connection. He told us that “this post is misleading. No one has said that monthly salary will be payed to Priests and Namgharias of Assam. Yes, the state government has decided to give them Rs 15,000, that is true. But this money is a one-time aid only, not a monthly pay.”
