Fact Check: This picture showing the temple on planet Mars is edited

New Delhi (Vishvas News). In a picture viral on social media, a temple can be seen at a place resembling planet Mars. It is being claimed with the post that this temple has been found on planet Mars and NASA’s Curiosity rover has taken this picture. Vishvas News found in its investigation that NASA has not released any such picture. The viral claim is fake.

What’s in the viral post?

The viral picture was shared by a Facebook user named Alagiri Swamy. The viral picture reads “Mangalnath Temple on Mars is more than 32000 years old, NASA scientists found it now by help of Curiosity rover. The technology western world has reached now, we Hindus had it thousands of years ago.. This is the beauty of Sanatan Dharma”

Investigation

To investigate this post, we checked this picture on Google reverse image. We found this photo in a news article on  deccanherald.com. But there was no temple or rover to be seen anywhere.

We found this picture on phys.org, as well but there was no temple in the picture here either.

We searched through keywords on this topic, but we could not find any such news published by any authentic media house. It would have been a big deal to find such a religious structure on Mars. If it had happened, it would surely have been in the news.

We also searched NASA’s website and social accounts with keywords. We did not find any such news anywhere.

We contacted NASA in this matter via mail. We were told in response that “if the information is not from the NASA.gov website, we cannot verify its authenticity.”

This post was shared by a Facebook user named Alagiri Swamy. The user is a resident of Coimbatore.

Conclusion: Vishvas News found in its investigation that no such picture has been released by NASA. The viral claim is fake.
